Shooting Goes Down As Sheriff Arrives

"HARRIS, NC — Franklin County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a double shooting Friday night.

"Sheriff Jerry Jones says officers were called to a mobile home park at NC 98 and Curtis Road to investigate a domestic situation. Jones says when the officers arrived they heard two gunshots before they exited their patrol car.

"Jones says the officers found two gunshot victims, a male and a female. He says it appears the male shot the female and then turned the gun on himself.

"Jones says the female victim ran across to a neighbors' house yelling for help, but she was shot at the steps of the deck of the neighbors' home.

"Both gunshot victims were taken to local hospitals with what appear to be serious injuries.

"The couple have an 18-month-old child who was in their car at the time of the incident. The child has been placed with family members."
